Michelle Elvy

Michelle Elvy is a writer and editor who grew up on the Chesapeake Bay, meandered via sailboat to Aotearoa and now lives in Ōtepoti Dunedin.

Her books include the everrumble and the other side of better, and her extensive anthology editing work includes, recently, Poto - Iti te kupu, nui te kōrero| Short - The big book of small stories (Massey University Press, 2025) and Te Moana o Reo | Ocean of Languages (The Cuba Press, 2025), plus A Kind of Shelter: Whakaruru-taha (2023), Breach of All Size: Small stories on Ulysses, love, and Venice (2022) and Ko Aotearoa Tātou | We Are New Zealand (2020).

She edits at National Flash Fiction Day, Flash Frontier and At the Bay | I te Kokoru and teaches online at 52|250 A Year of Writing.

In 2025 Michelle is writing two new hybrid collections with the Mike Riddell Residency and the Auckland Regional Parks Residency.
