Te Kai a te Rangatira
Sharing wisdom garnered from more than one hundred interviews with Māori with a track record of service and contributing to Māori.
The idea originated from our youth work over the past 10 years via the Tuia National rangatahi kaupapa. Inspired by the work of Te Rangikāheke and Himiona Tikitu who both wrote about the attributes of effective Māori leadership and with more than 90 volunteers, we collectively created Te Kai a te Rangatira, a book and a much larger body of work including photography, videography and more.
Life-changing for all involved, we celebrate this kaupapa and its transformative power with editors Rawiri J. Tapiata, Renee Smith and Marcus Akuhata-Brown, and some of the rangatahi building this kete of wisdom.
