Rose Carlyle
Rose Carlyle is an author and keen adventurer. Her debut novel, The Girl in the Mirror, was an instant number one bestseller in New Zealand and has also been published in Australia, the US and Canada. It will be published in the UK and in seven languages in 2021, and the screen rights have been sold to Hollywood.
Rose is an alumna of the University of Otago, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Laws with First Class Honours in 1995. She also received a Master’s in Creative Writing with First Class Honours from the University of Auckland in 2017. Rose has practised law as a barrister and has taught the professional legal studies course. She has crewed on scientific yachting expeditions to subantarctic islands and lived aboard her own yacht in the Indian Ocean for a year, sailing it from Thailand to South Africa via the Seychelles. Rose was a Michael King Writer in Residence in 2020. She lives in Auckland with her three children and is working on her second novel.
