“Perfection... Vaughan is simply sublime.” That was the Huffington Post’s verdict on Orlando, the latest one-woman performance by Rebecca Vaughan (written/directed by Elton Townend Jones of critically acclaimed Dyad Productions). She wowed us with Dalloway in 2015 and Jane Eyre: An Autobiography in 2017, so there was little chance of us being able to resist a third dose. Based on the satirical 1928 novel by Virginia Woolf, Orlando is the life-affirming, comedic tale of an immortal poet whose gender cannot be pinned down, whose spirit cannot be caged and whose irreverent, romantic adventures across British history provide a magic-realist exploration of human identity.
