Mihiata is a law lecturer at Otago University who was first introduced to the imagination-space and its potential for achieving change through her Master’s thesis, The Māori Land Court: Exploring the Space between Law, Design, and Kaupapa Māori. In her thesis she contemplated how we might use creative, kaupapa Māori-informed, design-based methods to encourage whānau to engage with and reimagine the role of the Māori Land Court in their lives. She is a former long-time resident of Te Whanganui-ā-Tara, an enthusiastic newbie to Ōtepoti, and a keen reader.
