Apirana Taylor from the is a poet, playwright, novelist, short story writer, storyteller, actor, painter, and musician. He was awarded the 2024 Prime Minister’s Literary Award for Achievement in Poetry.

Apirana has been Writer in Residence at Massey and Canterbury Universities.

He has been invited several times to India to read his poetry and has often toured Europe presenting his work.

Apirana's prose and poems have been translated into many languages.

He travels to schools, tertiary institutions and prisons throughout NZ to read his poetry, tell his stories and take creative writing workshops.

He has had published seven collections of poetry, three of short stories, two novels and four plays. His poetry and short stories are published in many national and international anthologies.
