David Elliot

David Elliot is an internationally recognised children’s writer and illustrator. He has illustrated numerous stories and poems by New Zealand and international authors, including Brian Jacques (UK) and John Flanagan (Australia). David won the NZ Post Book of the Year award for The Moon and Farmer McPhee (with Margaret Mahy) in 2011, while Henry’s Map was listed in the American School Library Journals Top 20 Picture Books for 2013. In 2011, David was the inaugural recipient of the Arts Foundation Mallinson Rendell Illustrators Award and in 2014, he was awarded the Storylines Margaret Mahy Award for lifetime achievement in children’s writing and illustration. His latest book, Snark, has been described as ‘an irresistible invitation to imagination that will delight readers of all ages’. David lives and works in Port Chalmers.
