An author-illustrator of children’s picture books, Ruth has 29 published titles. She was recipient of an Arts Foundation Laureate Award in 2019 and is currently the University of Otago Children’s Writer in Residence. Ruth is a judge for the NZ Book Awards for Children and Young Adults 2023, having previously won Best Picture Book in the same awards for Lion Guards the Cake (2022) and I am Jellyfish (2018).

She is an engaging presenter who enjoys sharing her books with tamariki, and says every new project is a chance to get better at the craft she loves.
