Manaia Tuwhare-Hoani (Ngāpuhi, Ngāti Wai) is a young wahine Māori, spoken word poet with a passion for storytelling and as a mokopuna of poet Hone Tuwhare, she has poetry running through her whakapapa.

Manaia uses spoken word to connect to her whakapapa and as a platform to bring Māori issues and topics to light and to explore her own creativity and identity. She is a founding member of the poetry collective Ngā Hine Pūkōrero and was featured in the 2021 documentary Wind Song and Rain - a short documentary that followed her journey back to her Koro’s homestead at Kākā Point.
